3 pounds extra-lean ground turkey
3 cups chopped onions
3 cups chopped green and red bell peppers
1/4 cup Delizia Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 cloves fresh garlic
6 cans (14.5 oz) each chopped (diced) tomatoes undrained
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup chili powder
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried oregano leaves crushed
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp sea salt
4-5 cans of dark red kidney beans
1/2 cup honey
olive oil for browning
Pour three Tbsp of the garlic olive oil into a large dutch oven or crock pot. Cook turkey, onion, peppers and garlic over medium-high heat about 5-7 minutes or until turkey begins to brown, stirring frequently and breaking up turkey with back of spoon.
Stir in tomatoes, cook 5 minutes. Add water, chili powder, cinnamon, cumin, paprika, oregano, black pepper and salt, mix well. Stir in beans and honey.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer about 30 minutes or until chili thickens. Garnish with shredded cheddar cheese and chopped onions.
